Barga is an old walled Tuscan town. Its streets are very narrow and its buildings are comparatively tall. This means the afternoon light fades quickly in many places. Its harsh streetlights come on early. I don’t know if these lights are the newer unpleasant white LED lights or something else; but they’re not the sodium vapor we knew and loved. But there are also very yellow wall-mounted, lantern-style sconces throughout. In the late afternoon, the combination of these lights and the natural sunlight produces a remarkable effect on the walls and doors of Barga. Barga Light.
