There are thousands of baboons along the banks of the Chobe River. They live in groups or colonies of anywhere from a dozen to over a hundred. Their social life, their antics, the playing babies, are all mesmerizing. We could, and did, watch them for hours. As I focused on this elder fellow sitting calmly by the water, crocodiles not far and elephants near, I noticed he was staring right back at me. He wasn’t posing. He was sorting.
