There are so many ways to print an image, so many papers and inks, and thousands of ways to frame or mount it. How does one choose? We've tried to simplify this process, by offering the types of prints, frames, and mountings that we use and love in our own home, and that we know complement our artwork. 

Here is a short guide to the formats we offer:

Acrylic Block Gift Box

A small display piece — usually 4×6 or 8×8 inches. Whitewall's method is what makes this worth offering: the image is printed on archival paper first, then bonded to the acrylic. Many competitors print directly to acrylic, which compromises color reproduction and longevity. Our version keeps the brilliance and dimensional quality of a full acrylic presentation at a size and price that make it right for gifting or for a small dedicated space. Ships in a gift box. Available for images with native 1:1, 3:2, or 4:3 aspect ratios; for wider panoramas or unusual crops, see the other formats or request a custom quote. We have other printing houses for acrylic block in non-standard sizes.

Fine Art Bonded Acrylic

This is our premier print format. Pigment inkjet on Hahnemühle fine art paper, laminated behind glossy acrylic glass on an Alu-Dibond backing, in a brushed silver slimline case. The pigment inkjet process holds the widest color spectrum and the finest tonal gradation of any medium we offer, and the paper is archival for generations. To achieve the best longevity, the printed image is sealed behind acrylic glass with permanently elastic silicone. The sophisticated technology ensures perfect results for images of any size and also makes it possible to create impressive large formats up to 115 x 70 inches (290 x 180 cm) as seamless photo prints.This is our preferred gallery presentation, and we make it available in a variety of matted and unmatted with slimline frames of various tones, depending on the image itself. We love how the slimline case creates a sense of elegance, while staying out of the way of the print, which projects forward from the case. All Bonded Acrylic prints are mounted beneath museum matte acrylic to minimize reflections in almost all lighting conditions while accentuating the tones and depth opf the image.

Passe-Partout, Black or White

Baryta paper — the silver-tone paper fine art black-and-white printing has used for eighty years — mounted in a double-mat passe-partout framing behind museum glass. Available with a black frame or a white frame; the paper and mat treatment are identical, only the frame color differs. Black frames read more contemporary and architectural; white frames read more traditional and gallery-quiet. Available for any image, though the treatment reads most naturally on monochrome work.

Textile Print

A pigment print on woven textile, wrapped on a wooden stretcher frame with mirror-edge treatment on the sides. Different from standard canvas: the surface is finer, the print holds detail better, the presentation is more sophisticated. Lightweight compared to acrylic or paper-under-acrylic, easier to hang, and the price point stays accessible while still feeling serious. Best for larger sizes and rooms where reduced weight and reflection matter.

Giclée on Alu-Dibond

For those who want to select their own framing and/or glass cover. A giclée fine art print on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl paper, mounted on Alu-Dibond backing, no glass, no frame. The paper texture is visible; there are no reflections; the print itself is what the viewer sees. This is what a curated gallery show hangs. Best for viewers who want the print to speak without any surface between it and them. It's also for someone who wants to have their print custom framed with specific glass.

There are many and varied definitions for the term "Limited Edition," and some of them don't sound very limited. Here is what we mean: we define "Limited Edition" by the image itself. Each image can be acquired in one of several motifs: an Acrylic Bond Print, a Passe-Partout frame, Textile Print, etc. Every one of those productions counts against our limit of 99 productions of each image. So, if there are 5 framed prints ordered, 10 textile prints, and 7 acrylic blocks, all 22 of those count together against the 99-print limit. For that image, there would be 77 prints remaining of any type. Once an image has been printed 99 times, no matter what the format, it will not be printed again.

This is one of the reasons we issue a Certificate of Authenticity with each of our prints. In this way, our collectors know the serialized identity of their print, and that only 98 other editions of the image will ever exist.

Our Acrylic Block Photo Prints contain animal ingredients (gelatine). However, our Bonded Acrylic Prints, our framed Passe-Partout Prints, and our unframed Giclée Prints are printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl paper with vegan ink. Our Textile Prints are also printed with vegan ink.

Depending on the image, medium, and format you acquire, you will recieve a serialized Certificate of Authenticity either digitally (that you can download and print for your records) or via delivery from our studio in Morada, California. This may arrive slightly before or after the artwork itself, depending on where you are.

That's a great question. With the world flooded with pretty pictures, why should you buy artwork from us? We've given that a lot of thought and have dedicated a separate page to the answer.

We want you to be happy with your acquisition. Artwork is an investment, and sometimes not a small one. We encourage you to ask any questions before you make your acquisition. We can even ut you in touvh with other collectors in order for you to ask them about their acquisitions of our artwork.

Because each piece we offer is a limited edition, we can accept returns in only limited circumstances. Here are the terms of our Return Policy:

"Each artwork we offer is produced individually for you at Whitewall’s Berlin or American facility. Because every piece is made to order, produced from a signed and numbered edition of 100, and cannot be returned to inventory once made, we do not accept returns for reasons of preference — the “I changed my mind” case.

"When we can accept a return or issue a refund:
1. The artwork arrives damaged and you notify us within seven days of receipt. In this case, we arrange a replacement at no cost (see Damage & Loss above). A refund in lieu of replacement is available if preferred.
2. The artwork was misrepresented on the site — the size, medium, or edition information you purchased is materially different from what arrives. In this case, please email either of us at greg@hammondraffetto.art or mary@hammondraffetto.art with photographs and details, and we will make it right, which may include a replacement, a refund, or a partial refund by agreement.
3. The Certificate of Authenticity does not accompany the artwork or fails to arrive within thirty days of the artwork itself. In this case, email either of us and we will resolve promptly.
4. When returns are not available:
•    The artwork was received in good condition and you have changed your mind.
•    The artwork was displayed, hung, or unpackaged and you now wish to return it. Once a limited-edition print has been unpackaged, it cannot be returned to the edition without compromising the authentication of every other print in that edition.
Custom orders and requests submitted through the Request Custom Quote form are non-refundable once production begins."
