Caring For Your Artwork

This guidance consists of some tips from our own experience as well as WhiteWall's instructions for the prints they produce.

On Arrival

First, inspect the shipping box to make sure it is intact and shows no signs of damage, particularly punctures or crushing. If there is any damage whatsoever, and you don't have the ability to refuse the shipment—i.e., it was delivered to your work mailroom, or the transport company left it on your doorstep, or next to your lawn sprinkler—photograph all sides of the box before opening it. Don't reach out to us, the delivery company, or WhiteWall just yet. We want to see if your artwork survived the journey anyway. WhiteWall is very good at this and knows how to ship artwork.

Next, open the box very carefully in a safe spot. Don't you love those boxes that say on the outside "DO NOT USE SHARP OBJECT TO OPEN"? No kidding, but generally use as short a sharp blade as possible, and start with the ends before slicing across the box. Some WhiteWall boxes identify which side to open first. Please follow that instruction.

If your artwork is intact, congrats! If it is damaged in any way, please follow our return/replacement policy & procedure here.

Placement & Hanging

Avoid exposing your picture to direct sunlight or heat (e.g., directly above a heater). Consider the humidity level depending on the product. Always use two screws or hooks to securely hang your picture.

Always use two screws or hooks to securely hang your picture. For security, those should be screwed into a strud or secured with dry wall anchors.

For acrylic block pieces, consider the safety of their location. Tipping them over on a desk or table is not an issue, but having them fall off a mantle onto a stone fireplace apron might be. If there is any such risk, consider unobtrusive ways to prevent that from happening.

Cleaning

Your artwork can be dusted with a lint-free, soft, and dry cloth (e.g. microfiber). A feather duster is excellent for removing dry dust on a regular basis. Do not use any solvents or cleaners of any type, including water, on any of your artwork. For avoidance of doubt, to ensure long-lasting enjoyment of your artwork, please refrain from using any glass cleaning products for our prints mounted on a backing board or with acrylic glass. We also recommend you avoid applying pressure while wiping the print surface.
