Oculus. Not.

There are umpteen images of the Oculus Transit Hub all over the internet. But it’s one of those things that one needs to see and feel in person. What an extraordinary place, an audacious poem and tribute to human spirit. One could photograph Oculus for weeks on end and still not capture it fully. This image is not that Oculus. For that, you can see something like the image below, which reveals the bright, soaring sense of Oculus, unencumbered by its creators while fulfilling their aspirations. Instead, this image is about the creation’s mastery of the creator. Today would be my first time inside, and it will decidedly not be my last. When I got up at 4 to get ready, it was pouring down rain. No matter, most of my work would be inside, though just getting there from my Uber left me drenched. But it was worth it. For the first few hours, I had the place to myself and I made some wonderful images. But I wanted some, like this one, with people in the image to provide a sense of scale. This is just a proof of concept image for a work to come.
