Le Grand Trianon, Versailles

Louis IV commissioned Le Grand Trianon in 1670, and it was built beginning in 1687. Here was to be his escape from the court hustle and bustle of Chateau de Versailles, and his love nest with Madame de Maintenon. The marble here there everywhere is remarkable, and it all seems as fresh as this morning. Mary and I were fortunate to visit Versailles on a day when the lone passerby in the image above made Trianon feel crowded by comparison to the main palace.
