Just a short walk from the City Center (less than 2 miles) lies the Piazzale Michelangelo in the Oltrarno District, outside the city walls. It’s ina very pleasant little neighborhood with lots of shops, restaurants, and bars. The Plaza was built in the 19th century, and contains replicas of several of Michelangelo’s works, including the David and Medici Chapel statues. Take the steps up the steep, but short hill to the overlook and enjoy the view. It’s a beautiful place to see all of the city all at once. And pinch yourself.
